Just came across a new app for the classroom iPod. EduCreations.
Educreations is a recordable interactive whiteboard that captures your voice and handwriting to produce amazing video lessons that you can share online. Students and colleagues can replay your lessons in any web browser, or from within our app on their iPads. Check out the “Showcase” on our homepage or the “Featured” tab in our iPad app to view some great lessons that other teachers have created with Educreations.
If you don’t have an iPad, you can also create lessons using our online whiteboard, which works in any browser that supports flash. Just log in to your account on our website and click on the “Create a New Lesson” link to launch our online whiteboard. I have a computer in the middle of my class, attached to the overhead, and this is probably how I will use it. I do own an android tablet, and it’s not available on it yet.
Educreations could be a great tool when you have to be away and need a supply teacher/OT to teach your lesson, or when students miss a class, they can replay it.
You can browse some of the great lessons that others have created in our public directory. We also have a list of showcased lessons in our directory as well. You can also view these showcased lessons by visiting the “Featured” tab of our iPad app.
I haven’t tried it yet. As like all of you, it takes a while to play with to get the hang of it, but I am hoping to try it before the school year is out. I just registered and “joined” my school – it has a list of all schools in there already. I can see that it needs some Canadian history content on there, so maybe I will attempt to create one before the year is out.
If you’ve used it, please comment below and let me know what you think.
